Hi all,
I am so glad to be back and able to bring you all up to date on my life, with clay and in general. I went on vacation with my mom, and I got sick. Came back home and got sick. Now I am well and am not going to get sick again!
I have some pictures from the Pottery Sale/Party in Nancy's back yard. We all love being there, and I was able to get some fairly nice pictures of the pottery before it became picked over and moved around. The colors look so beautiful in the sun.
I have some new ideas for clay projects that I am anxious to try. I really do need to get some throwing time in and make some mugs, bowls, and serving platters made. I don't seem to have many of them left in my inventory. The weather is getting hot here, and that makes firing the gas kiln a less appealing prospect, yet we will do it, hopefully soon.
As you can see we have a wonderful selection of glazes at our disposal. Rich iron reds, copper reds, blues, and many others. Sometimes that makes glazing difficult. I need a plan when I glaze, and if there are too many choices, I have trouble making a reasonable plan. My studio partner in the home studio, Lila, has extolled the virtues of a small color palet, but I am not there yet. I just recently found some new (to us) green glaze recipes I would like to try. Soon maybe.
Also, I am thinking about the holidays already. The fall season is busy at the galleries, shops, and with art sales, so now is the time to plan and execute the seasonal stuff. I have not made any clay ornaments in the past, but have some ideas for them. I will try them and let you know how it goes.
Okay, going for now. Next post I will try to have a great clay idea for you.....and possibly a recipe to make in it!
Linda
